STK 2984 1948 MG TC

The MG-TC Midget was the first post-war MG. Just over 10,000 TC roadsters were produced from 1945 through 1949. Despite the fact that all were right-hand drive, the TC model was exported to the US - many say it was the car that started the sports car craze in America. This TC was restored to this outstanding state in the mid-90s and has been carefully maintained since. (Current owner has numerous receipts from the restoration.) By all appearances, it was a complete frame-off restoration. The stunning body was professionally prepped and beautifully finished in 2-stage Black - likely the original color, but we have no way of being sure. All of the chrome is virtually perfect and accents include chrome windshield frame, dual mirrors, 7” sealed beam headlights and chrome grill frame w/contrasting red grill. The interior has been completely restored back to original and has been carefully detailed. Red leather seats are as inviting as your Lazy Boy. Carpets and door panels are in excellent nick as are all of Jaegar/Lucas gauges including an optional water temp gauge. The factory steering wheel has been replaced with the period-correct Bluemels 'Brooklands' wheel – a very popular conversion. There is a like-new tan cloth top w/side curtains and tonneau cover. A tool kit and two operator manuals are also included with the car. The XPAG series 1250cc OHV push-rod 4-cylinder had a rated output of 54bhp at 5,200rpm with 7.4:1 compression and dual SU carbs. The owner states that a serial number on the engine matches the brass chassis plate number. The rebuilt engine sounds great and is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Electrics are 12 volt, brakes are hydraulic 4-wheel drum and the chassis is fitted with front/rear leaf spring suspension. Dunlop 19” knock-off wire wheels (painted) mount Firestone 4.50x19 tires. This MG-TC is an icon – British history that will look great in your driveway. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
