Stk 2396 1950 MG TD
Over a 4-year period (1950-1953), the Brits exported more than 23,000 MG-TD models to the United States. These roadsters were unique to the American marketplace. Few survive today - this is one of the nicest ones that we have had. This TD was restored to its present condition in 1998 and has been carefully maintained ever since. (Earlier California owner was the actor Robert Young.) The stunning body was professionally prepped and refinished in 2-stage black and all of the chrome is nice. The interior remains mostly original, but has been carefully detailed. Factory red leather seats are somewhat worn, but look great in this car. Carpets and door panels are in good nick as are the Jaegar/Lucas gauges. The factory steering wheel was replaced with an Ashby-Brooklyn unit, but the repairable original is included in the sale. There is a fitted tonneau cover and a like-new black top with side curtains. The rebuilt 1250cc OHV 4-cylinder was done right and sounds great. An upgraded Moss 435-375 oil filtration system has also been added. The powerplant is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Steering is rack/pinion with coil spring front suspension and leaf springs in the rear. Brakes are hydraulic 4-wheel drum and factory 15” steel wheels mount nice radials. All US export TDs had 12V positive-ground electrics. The MG-TD is a British icon. It would look great in your driveway. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
