STK 2878 1934 Plymouth 5 Window Coupe
This custom '34 Plymouth 5-window coupe is a great 'old-school' hot rod that was totally restored in 2010. The steel body w/fiberglass rear fenders/grill cowling was refinished in a Bright Yellow basecoat/clearcoat finish with careful pinstriping. This little coupe has a menacing look. In order to enhance the driving experience, there is a rolled/pleated vinyl interior, comfortable bench seat, tilt wheel and tinted windows. AutoMeter analog gauges are laid out to perfection and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD sound system plays your music. Horsepower comes from a serious Chrysler 'Fire-Power' Hemi that was rebuilt in 2010 and fitted with all the right performance pieces. Based on the engine serial number (NE55…), we believe that it is the rather rare 331ci/4V motor originally installed in the '55 New Yorker and Imperial - a very well regarded version of the Hemi. NE55 heads were dubbed '555 - Triple Nickel' and are said to be the most desirable of all the early Hemis. (We are not absolutely sure that these are the original heads, but that is a fair assumption.) Fuel is now furnished by an aluminum 3x2 intake fitted with (3) rebuilt Rochester 2-barrels. Currently only the front two carbs engage with progressive linkage, but the third carb is fully functional. A performance cam manages flow and stainless tube headers feed a stainless exhaust system. This Hemi sounds amazing, but remains very streetable. It is mated to a GM 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 350 automatic transmission w/Hurst shifter. The chassis integrates a front straight axle with transverse leaf spring and coil-over shocks. A solid differential is fitted with traction bars, coil-over shocks and street gearing. Brakes are manual disc/drum and American Racing wheels mount meaty radials. This handsome Plymouth Hemi street rod must be driven to be appreciated. It will soon make one new MOPAR owner very proud. Credit card transactions are ONLY accepted for the $500 deposit to hold the vehicle for 7 days while awaiting full payment.
