The Chevelle SS396 defines the Muscle Car. The only way to truly document a 1969 Chevelle as having the SS396 'option' is with original paperwork showing the codes such as the build sheet, Chassis Broadcast Copy sheet, or factory stamped engine where the partial VIN stamping matches the car's VIN sequence. Lacking paperwork, there are about 20 build items that are unique to the SS396 option right down to factory-punched oval holes for SS only trim pieces. This car passes the test – 20 times. It has been lovingly restored to 'like new' condition. The owner (9 years) has provided photo binders of documentation detailing the total restoration process. The exterior is stunning. Starting with all-original sheet metal, a two-stage finish of Fathom Green (2015) is accented by a Legendary black vinyl top. The stance is pure muscle on 15”x8” SS rally wheels and 60 Series BF Goodrich Radial T/As (14” rims are also included). The mostly original Dark Green vinyl interior has been upgraded with new carpets and headliner. It features bucket seats, center console, factory gauge cluster w/tach and a 'retro' radio with MP3 I-phone connection. Under the hood sits a rebuilt 1969 JC code 396/350hp. Breathing through coated 'shorty' headers and a stainless exhaust, it produces the unmistakable sound of a Big Rat. A rebuilt Muncie 4-speed (with new Hurst Comp+ shifter) feeds the12-bolt differential with 3.73:1 gears. The suspension consists of upgraded front/rear sway bars, Bilstein shocks, tubular rear control arms and rear air bags. A Detroit Speed power steering box controls direction and power disc/drum brakes manage deceleration. This is a Chevelle to drive and enjoy.
