Constructed with Russian Birch Marine Plywood

STK 3095 2010 Red Wing 23 Custom Cruiser

This beautiful Red Wing 23 Custom Cruiser was designed by Karl Stambaugh, NA and constructed (2010) by the owner's brother, Mark Cycotte, at his boat-building facility in the Chesapeake Bay area. The comprehensive designer's plan set is furnished with the boat along with a complete construction photo binder.

The Red Wing 23 was designed and built to resemble a traditional lobster boat blended with a pleasure craft. The actual length is 26', weight is just over 2,600 lbs and the draft is approximately 24”. The boat is framed with white oak and constructed with Russian birch marine plywood. The hull, deck and cabin were covered with epoxy resin/fiberglass cloth and the space between deck and hull is filled with expanding foam floatation. The design of this hull allows for safe beaching for exploring or a picnic. All exterior trim is mahogany and the cabin sole and bilge grates are teak. The owner has just recently applied (October) a coat of Interlux ACT Ablative Ant-fouling paint (green) to the bottom.

The wheelhouse provides an open, protected area for the skipper with good ventilation that can also be semi/fully enclosed with canvas curtains. It is equipped with a 'Destroyer style' wheel, full instrument panel, engine controls, pilot's seat, storage lockers and a cozy dinette set.

The forward cuddy cabin has a large v-berth with comfortable cushions, a hidden Port-A-Jon and a removable ice chest w/wheels. It has a forward hatch, two fixed bronze portholes, LED lighting and access to anchor storage through the front bulkhead. All interior trim wood/doors in the cabin is cherry. Aft is a large open cockpit with built-in seating and stainless rod holders (2). There is also a teakwood swim platform mounted on the transom.

Power is furnished by a Honda 20hp 4-stroke outboard that is housed in a covered well and not visible from the cockpit. This quiet, reliable engine is equipped with power trim, electric start and easy-pull start (back-up). It will cruise the Red Wing all day long at 5-7 knots while just sipping fuel.

This boat is fully equipped and ready to enjoy. Features include:
• Full compliment of running, anchoring, docking lights
• Dual West Marine batteries (06/20) w/built in charging system
• Dual 6.5 gallon fuel tanks
• Dual electric bilge pumps
