STK 3931 1951 Willys Jeep M38
The Willys M38 was introduced in 1950 as a post-WWII military Jeep based on the CJ-3A. An estimated total of 45,475 units were produced. The 1/4 ton 4×4 M38 was known as a light tactical vehicle. It was the successor to the Willys-MB, but with numerous improvements. M38s were fitted with many military-specific features including a one-piece windshield, tow hitch, gas can and a driver's side fuel filler. M38s had larger 16” wheels, a stronger frame and much heavier suspension components than the civilian CJ-3A version.
This 1951 M38 is in overall very good original condition. The 'Camo/Drab Green' paint was resprayed in 2006. It shows well, but there is minor surface rust in a few spots. Factory wheels mount nearly new Specialty Tires of America all-terrain bias-ply tires. The spartan interior, also refreshed in 2006, looks just as you might expect with the exception of an aftermarket gauge package in the dash. A 134ci 'Go Devil” flathead 4-cylinder engine, said to have never required a rebuild, sounds great. It has recently received a major service including plugs, wires and distributor cap. A new carburetor has also been installed and electrics utilize an alternator based 12-volt system. The factory drivetrain configuration is a 3-speed manual transmission mated to a Hi/Lo Spicer-18 2wd/4wd transfer case and brakes are 4-wheel hydraulic drum. This M38 Jeep does not have a top or side curtains. Become the next owner of this classic Jeep M38 and have some fun. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
