STK 3954 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix
The Grand Prix model first appeared in Pontiac's line-up in 1962. It was essentially a standard Catalina coupe with minimal chrome trim and a sportier interior (bucket seats and console). The performance-minded John DeLorean contributed to the development of both the Grand Prix and later the GTO. This 1966 Grand Prix is a perfect example of the 'full-size GTO'. It received a careful restoration back to virtually original condition (2019). The very straight exterior was professionally re-sprayed in a 2-stage Silver Metallic finish and accents include classic factory wheel covers, BFG Silvertown whitewall radials, rear fender skirts and beautiful chrome. The handsome interior features new two-tone embossed vinyl upholstery, matching door cards, full console w/shifter, wood accents and new carpeting. It is also equipped with factory air (needs TLC), power tinted windows, a full set of analog gauges and the original AM sound system.
Horsepower is furnished by a rebuilt 389ci Pontiac V8, an engine that was introduced in 1960 and became a mainstay of the Pontiac lineup for a decade. The engine was factory equipped with a Carter 4V and was rated at 325hp. (This carburetor was upgraded to an Edelbrock Performer four-barrel when the engine was rebuilt.) The motor is backed by a 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission and stock differential. The solid chassis of this Grand Prix is equipped with coil-spring suspension, power steering, 4-wheel power disc/drum brakes w/dual-master and free-flowing exhaust. There are very few of these Grand Prix models around and this nicely restored coupe is very special and belongs in your Poncho garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
