STK 3955 1961 Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliner

The Ford Sunliner was a full-size convertible that was part of Ford's mainstream "Galaxie 500" series. For 1961, Ford's design saw a shift towards a more modern and streamlined appearance, particularly noticeable in the front-end treatment and the wraparound windshield. This Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliner has been the beneficiary of a professional restoration that included many mechanical upgrades. The handsome 2-stage 'Monte Carlo Red' finish is in outstanding condition and accents include chrome wire wheels w/knockoffs (5), Coker American Classic whitewall radials, rear fender skirts, front/rear bumper guards, polished trim and beautiful chrome. A tan convertible top/window is in excellent condition and the interior has been completely restored. Impressive high-grade vinyl tufted upholstery was used for seating and door cards. It is equipped with a Vintage Air, full console w/Lokar shifter, alloy/leather tilt-wheel and redesigned custom dash fitted with AutoMeter analog gauges. A Kenwood AM/FM/CD sound system has also been installed.
Muscle is provided by a 390ci FE engine that was professionally built in 2010 by K/T Engine Development. It was designed with an 8.9:1 compression ratio and runs very well on 93 octane fuel. K/T began with a 390ci block, bored .030 over, installed a steel crank, 381 NP Speed Pro pistons and production 59cc heads. The entire assembly was blueprinted and balanced and builder documentation is included. A COMPcams hydraulic roller .529”/224 cam and 1.73 roller lifters were fitted. The Edelbrock Performer intake mounts the Holley dual-feed carb and spark is provided by a Pertronix ignition. This motor was dyno tested at 380hp@4600 with 450lb/ft@3700. Cooling is managed by an Edelbrock aluminum water pump, serpentine belt system and aluminum radiator w/electric fan. Exhaust exits through cast iron manifolds to a free-flowing stainless system. The entire engine compartment is beautifully detailed with an abundance of chrome. The FE is backed by a 3-speed C6 automatic and factory differential w/street gearing. The spotless chassis is equipped with power steering and power disc/drum brakes. This stunning Ford Galaxie 500 Sunliner is a well thought-out street machine. It is ready to be enjoyed by someone who appreciates early 60's Blue Ovals. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
