1935 Ford Model 48 Woody Wagon

Classic Woody Wagon Example-

The Ford Woody Wagon is a classic example of early American automotive design, blending utility with rustic charm. Built during the Great Depression, it included significant engineering and styling improvements over the earlier versions. The wagon featured a wooden body crafted from maple and birch that was assembled by skilled craftsmen at Ford's Iron Mountain plant in Michigan. The wood body was mounted on a steel chassis from Ford's passenger car line. The 1935 Ford model introduced a more modern, streamlined look with a curved grille, teardrop-shaped headlights and a more integrated fender design. Originally sold as a utilitarian station wagon, it also appealed to affluent customers for transporting their guests or luggage.

Exceptional And Refinished-

This fully restored 1935 Model 48 Wagon is exceptional. The straight, rust-free body was refinished in Cream Beige, and the 4-door wooden passenger compartment was beautifully restored to better than original. Accents include handsome wire wheels that mount Firestone bias tires, chrome grill/front bumper and dual horns. The interior features roll-up front windows and clear vinyl side curtains in the passenger area. New beige upholstery was fitted, and door cards are carefully refinished wood. The classic dash holds original gauges that function well and the impressive roof is constructed with handsome wooden planks protected by an excellent black vinyl top. The rear tailgate has a drop-down feature and mounts a spare tire with hard cover.

Flathead Power-

Under the hood, the wagon is powered by Ford's 221 cubic-inch flathead V8 engine that produced 85 horsepower. This was a significant upgrade in performance over earlier models and made the Woody capable of both city and country driving. The 3-speed manual transmission delivers power to the rear wheels, and the chassis features mechanical brakes and solid front and rear axles — standard for the era.

Today, surviving examples of these wagons are rare due to the vulnerability of the wood to rot and weather, but well-restored versions are prized possessions. This stately Woody is worth your consideration.
