Tri-Five Chevy-
The term “Tri-Five Chevy” refers to Chevrolet cars produced from 1955 to 1957, specifically the Bel Air, 210, and 150 models. These three production years are iconic in American automotive history due to their groundbreaking design, powerful V8 engines and cultural significance during the post-war boom. The Tri-Fives represent a golden era in automotive design and engineering that helped define 20th-century car culture.
Classic Design And Awards-
The 1957 Bel Air hardtop is the classic Tri-Five Chevrolet and this award winning 3-owner hardtop is a top-shelf example of that icon. This is likely the nicest 1957 Chevy we have had the honor to consign. The owner states that the Bel Air was the beneficiary of a complete frame-off restoration in 2012 (photo album included).
Stunning Looks-
The Onyx Black (code 793) exterior was professionally reshot as an exceptional 2-stage finish. The handsome body is stunning, and all chrome trim looks new. Steel wheels display factory spinner hubcaps and mount classic 14” wide-white radial tires. Factory fender skirts, power antenna and Gold Package accent trim complete the exterior package. The only thing that rivals the beauty of the exterior is the restored Black/Grey (code 650) interior. Every detail has been addressed – cloth/vinyl upholstery, door cards, dashboard, carpeting, headliner - all look better than brand new. The dash even holds the “Wonderbar” model AM radio, but it needs TLC.
Small Block Power-
Horsepower is furnished by a 283ci small block that is equipped with the Power Pack option. (The block is the correct engine code, but not numbers-matching.) The Power Pack performance option added a Carter 4-barrel carburetor, higher compression heads and dual exhaust. A PerTronix ignition conversion has also been installed. Output for this motor was rated at 220hp. It has the muted rumble of a Gen1 small-block and is backed by a 3-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and column shift.
Spotless Top To Bottom-
The spotless chassis is equipped with manual steering and manual brakes. One of the very few things that differs from the original configuration of this '57 is the installation of front disc brakes for safety (original drum brake components available).
The 1957 Bel Air has become one of the quintessential American-50s cars. Its styling and era capture a lot of nostalgia.
This stately Bel Air hardtop is a showroom piece that will continue to increase in value, and it belongs in your Bowtie garage.
