1938 Pontiac Humpback Street Rod
The 1938 Pontiac 'Humpback' is a striking model. It was part of a greater effort by Pontiac to solidify itself as a strong competitor in the mid-range car market. The term humpback refers to the unique, curved rear trunk that set the car apart from other vehicles of the era. The sedan featured flowing lines, an upright, grille-heavy front and round sweeping fenders that gave it a streamlined look.
Full 'All-Steel' Street Rod Restoration-
This all-steel 1938 Pontiac has been the beneficiary of a street rod restoration with mechanical upgrades. The body was resprayed 'Rally Red'. The finish is in overall good condition, but does show some minor imperfections. All chrome is in very good condition and work has been done to 'french' rear Cadillac taillights. New 15” American Racing alloys that mount Atlas performance radials complete the exterior. The interior has been upgraded with late-model power-assist bucket seats and handsome tan vinyl upholstery. It is fitted with plush carpets, smartly designed door cards with billet handles and a tweed cloth headliner. A custom dash holds VDO analog gauges and a SONY AM/FM/CD/AUX sound system. Convenience features include air conditioning/heater/defrost, tilt wheel and tinted windows.
Chevy Small-Block Power-
Horsepower is provided by a 350ci Chevy small-block that is fitted with an aluminum intake, 4V carburetor, HEI ignition, tube headers and an HD radiator with electric fan. It is backed by a 3-speed TH350 automatic transmission that furnishes torque to a differential with street gearing. The chassis mounts a Mustang II front end with power rack/pinion steering and brakes are power disc/drum units. Rear suspension is traditional leaf springs and a custom Flowmaster exhaust system has been added.
The current owner is ready to pass this rare street rod on to its next holder. Come in and inspect this Pontiac Humpback - you will not be disappointed.
