1983 GMC Disney Double Decker Bus
Some vehicles are collectible. Others are historic. This 1983 GMC Disney Double Decker Bus is both.
Offered here is an authentic Walt Disney World EPCOT Center Omnibus, one of the distinctive double-decker buses that carried guests through EPCOT during the park's formative years. Inspired by the famous Omnibus vehicles originally designed by Disney Legend Bob Gurr for Disneyland in 1956, these buses became a recognizable part of the EPCOT experience and remain among the most unique transportation vehicles ever operated by Disney. Accompanying documentation verifies its service with Disney before it was released from the fleet and passed into private ownership. Since leaving Disney, the bus has remained with only two owners, making this a remarkably well-documented example of a genuine Disney operational vehicle.
Disney History on GMC Commercial Running Gear
Power comes from a 4.8-liter inline 6-cylinder engine paired with an automatic transmission. Equipped with rear-wheel drive, power steering, and power brakes, the GMC commercial chassis was designed for dependable service while transporting guests throughout EPCOT Center. While the mechanical specifications are straightforward, the true significance of this vehicle lies in its documented history and provenance as a surviving Disney transportation vehicle.
An Authentic EPCOT Omnibus
What separates this bus from replicas and tribute builds is its documented Disney ownership history and verified service at Walt Disney World. Its unmistakable double-decker design instantly recalls the early years of EPCOT Center and represents a piece of Disney history seldom available to the public. Whether destined for a museum collection, themed venue, promotional use, special events, private display, or a significant Disney memorabilia collection, this Omnibus offers a unique opportunity for its next caretaker.
A Rare Piece of Disney History
Genuine Disney transportation vehicles rarely become available for purchase, and even fewer retain documented ownership tracing back to their time in service at Walt Disney World. For Disney collectors, theme park historians, and enthusiasts of unique Americana, this 1983 GMC Disney Double Decker Bus is far more than a bus—it is a surviving artifact from the early years of EPCOT Center and a tangible piece of Disney Imagineering history.
