Description

1963 Ford Galaxie XL Fastback

STK 2152 1963? Ford Galaxie 500 XL Fastback The 1963 Ford Galaxie was a classic from the first day it rolled off the showroom floor. Its distinctive styling is timeless and it has become one of the most collectible Fords of any era. This 1963? Galaxie 500XL Fastback features a sporty roofline with no post and Starliner convertible-type looks. Standard equipment on these cars was a deluxe offering with bucket seats, console, wall to wall carpeting, courtesy lights and contoured seat upholstery among other luxury features. The current owner (10 years) of this Fastback performed a partial restoration in 2006. The exterior was repainted Corinthian White - the original factory color. All of the chrome trim (and there is a lot of chrome trim) is in near factory condition. Narrow whitewalls and factory correct full wheel covers with spinners accent the body's classic lines. Inside, the car appears much the same as it did in the showroom back in 1963 - the vinyl upholstery, door cards, dash and accessories all appear to be original. The air conditioning is very cool. What is believed to be the factory Thunderbird 390ci-4V/300hp FE engine may have been rebuilt some years back. Whether rebuilt or original, it sounds great. The powerplant is backed by Ford's three-speed Cruise-o-Matic transmission that shifts solidly. Underneath is a solid chassis equipped with power steering and power drum brakes. Sometimes words fail to describe the design and beauty of a truly classic automobile. This legendary '63? Galaxy 500XL Fastback is one of those cars and it will always be of great interest to car collectors and Ford enthusiasts.
