Description

1962 Studebaker GT Hawk

STK 2168 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk The Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk sold between 1962 and 1964. It was the grand finale of the Studebaker Hawk series that began with the Golden Hawk in 1956. The Gran Turismo's styling was a radical facelift from the shape of the older Hawk. The European-look inspired the code name Hawk Monaco. The hood was given a pronounced radiator frame to closely resemble the Mercedes. From an American design standpoint, the roofline was heavily inspired by the Ford Thunderbird and the contemporary rear bodywork was influenced by the Lincoln Continental. This partially restored red/white Gran Turismo classic is very complete - all of the factory Studebaker body/trim components are in good condition. A total respray of was applied in 2004. The Gran Turismo's interior features bucket seats ( restored in black vinyl) and a full console. It is accentuated by an instrument panel with a full complement of large, easy-to-read gauges and a padded dash. We believe that this dash format is totally original and it appears modern even by today's standards. Under the hood, the Hawk's rebuilt Thunderbolt engine displaces 289ci and churns out 225bhp to the optional 3-speed Flight-o-Matic transmission. The GT's suspension has power steering, variable-rate front coil springs, anti-sway bars, asymmetrical rear springing and telescopic shock absorbers. Brakes are factory power-assisted finned drum. This is a rare, complete Studebaker Gran Turismo. Call 800-650-1055 or visit www.autobarnclassiccars.com for additional information. ALL VEHICLES SOLD AS IS.
