STK 2569 1964 Pontiac GTO

Many folks say the Pontiac GTO introduced the muscle car era, and it still remains one of the most popular muscle cars of all time. With a name taken from the Ferrari racer meaning 'Gran Turismo Omologato', there is little doubt that the GTO was created with performance in mind. This 5N code 1964 GTO hardtop is the first production year for the “Goat”. (During the first two years, the GTO was simply an option package to the Lemans.) Our current owner has had this car for the last 19 years and has overseen the partial restoration work. It is a very complete car – trim, interior components, suspension – all appear true to factory specs. Originally finished in Gulfstream Aqua, the exterior was re-sprayed Silver Mist Gray. There are some imperfections in the finish, primarily due to what appears to have been some dust present at the time of clear coat. A black vinyl interior was refreshed and looks very much like it did 55 years ago. This classic is equipped with the factory AM radio (not working), factory gauge package w/tach, 4-spoke alloy/wood-finish wheel and tinted windows. The owner states that the engine compartment houses a matching numbers 389ci motor, factory equipped with a Tri-Power intake. It was totally rebuilt in 1999 and runs well. The intake is fitted with three Rochester 2V carbs that appear to be original right down to the heat-tube choke on the center carb. It is backed by a factory 4-speed Muncie wide-ratio manual transmission, and 10.4” clutch. Steel wheels with factory spinner wheel covers mount period correct 14” redline radial tires. The current owner is ready to pass this revered muscle car on to a new home – why shouldn't that be your garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
