STK 2763 1963 Studebaker Avanti R-2

This 1963 Studebaker Avanti R-2 is everything that the photos show, and much more. The current owner (35 years) performed a stunning frame-off restoration in 2009, an effort that resulted in numerous AACA Show awards including the coveted 'Senior Award'. This total restoration is documented and includes photos. Most new components were sourced through Myer's Studebaker and Studebaker International. (Also included in the sale is the original window sticker from Wannalancit Studebaker.) The Avanti body was stripped to bare fiberglass and the professional 2-stage re-spray of Avanti Gold (P6333) is virtually flawless. Period correct 15” American Racing 'Torque Thrust' wheels mount Goodyear radials. (Original wheels w/new bias tires and two (2) sets of wheel covers are included.) The factory interior was restored back to original with Fawn/Elk vinyl upholstery and careful attention to detail. A 'padded' dash is fitted with a full compliment of factory gauges, positioned directly in the driver's line-of-sight. The AM radio was an option in 1963 and front seat belts have been installed for safe travel. Our Avanti is powered by its rebuilt Studebaker 289ci V8 that was factory optioned with the Paxton supercharger. Only a limited number of Avantis (1,883 in '63/'64) were delivered with the supercharger option ($210.00) due mainly to the fact that the location of that large orange Paxton made it impossible to add an air conditioning compressor. The supercharger feeds a rebuilt Carter 4-barrel carburetor and an electric fuel pump has been added to regulate pressure. Output is 290bhp with 330 lb/ft of torque. The transmission is a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed (1 of 500 delivered w/supercharged engines) that has been retro-fitted with a Hurst Competition+ shifter. (Original shifter included.) The blending of the Paxton's machine-hum and the deep burble of the exhaust results in a statement that conveys 'all business' through the gears. A posi-traction differential is factory fitted with 3.73:1 gears and the clean chassis is equipped with 16:1 manual steering, power front disc/rear drum brakes, HD springs, front sway bar and free-flowing dual exhaust. The factory frame torque boxes (Hog Troughs) were inspected and serviced as part of the restoration and are in excellent condition. Included in the sale are original parts, a premium 'California' car cover, 15 years of 'Avanti Magazine', a parts catalogue and a shop manual. Our handsome, carefully restored Avanti is a wise investment that belongs in your garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
