STK 2788 1983 Chevrolet Suburban Ambulance K20

The Chevy Suburban is the undisputed longest-running nameplate in the United States. The first Suburban was built in 1935 and it has been in continuous production since – a total of over two million units have been produced over 12 generations. During World War II they were even used as a military vehicle. However, this unique Suburban K20 found a different field of battle, serving as an ambulance for most of its life. Overall, the exterior of this truck is in very good condition. The factory paint has been well maintained and there is a front 'bull bar' with fog lights. The tan vinyl interior was refreshed in 2019. All gauges are working perfectly and there is access to an auxiliary 12v power source below the dash. Windows are tinted and the A/C system has been recently serviced. Under the hood, the 350ci small-block produces 275lb/ft of torque and sounds strong. The engine is fitted with a professionally rebuilt Quadrajet, new fuel pump (plus auxiliary electric fuel pump), new ignition components, big-block HD radiator and new 2-1/2” dual exhaust system. Power is delivered through a 700R4 four-speed automatic gearbox that was rebuilt with commercial clutches, new pumps and a HD convertor (stock stall-speed). The rust-free chassis is equipped with power steering, power disc/drum brakes and new Rancho shocks. A 10-bolt front differential with Warn manual locking hubs is paired with a 14-bolt rear unit by a 4-wheel NP208 transfer case. The fuel system has been cleaned and serviced and a new trailer brake package has been installed. Tires are meaty STA 'Superlug' 8PR radials in very good condition mounted on 16” GM factory steel wheels. This unusual Suburban is a solid value and should sell quickly. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
