Partially Restored 1995 Hard and Soft Tops
STK 2509 1957 Ford Thunderbird
The Thunderbird was introduced as a sporty competitor to the Corvette and many say that the T'bird actually saved the 'Vette from extinction. The 1957 Thunderbird model set a sales record with over 21,000 cars sold. It presented a new front fascia, new rear taillight/fin design and features from the previous year including a 12-volt electrical system, deep-dish 'safety' steering wheel and hardtop 'port' windows. Our Thunderbird roadster was partially restored in 1995 and the owner has even provided a copy of the original window sticker. The T'bird looks very distinguished with its re-spray of the original Inca Gold (Y code) and accents of rear fender skirts, wide-white tires mounted on color-matched 14” steel wheels with factory pie-plate hubcaps. A black removable hardtop is paired with a manual soft top, both in good condition. The interior was reupholstered back-to-original in black/white vinyl and includes the restyled '57 instrument cluster with round gauges. Power is provided by a Thunderbird 312ci engine rated at 245hp. Our owner believes that this is the factory Y-block and that it has not been rebuilt. It appears to be totally original except for the replacement of the troublesome Holley 4000 'Teapot' carburetor with a Holley 600cfm 4V. One of the original options on the car was the 'Engine Dress-up Kit' with over-sized air cleaner assembly and chrome accents. The Y-block is backed by Ford's time-honored Ford-O-Matic transmission and the chassis is equipped with power steering and power drum brakes. There are few of these classic Thunderbirds around for the serious Blue Oval loyalist and this car deserves your scrutiny. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
