STK 2881 1939 Ford Standard Coupe

When the '39 Ford rolled off the assembly line, it was a car with a function - legal or otherwise - that it performed very well. Now, decades later, this 1939 Ford Standard Coupe has been beautifully restored to be a virtual piece of art. The owner has put just over 1,600 miles on the car since the restoration in 2001. Outside, the exterior was professionally refinished in Garnet Maroon and sports near perfect chrome all around. The interior has been beautifully reupholstered in tan cloth with late model bucket seats and door cards, headliner and trunk were finished superbly. A set of Classic Instruments vintage gauges meld perfectly into the walnut dash. Turn signal lights were added for safety and period correct knobs complete the interior package. Our Ford Standard is powered by the 221ci flathead that has been rebuilt. It appears to be the original '81A' version of the motor that utilizes 24-bolt heads with coolant inlets positioned in the center of the heads. Cooling is provided by an aluminum radiator with electric fan. The flathead outputs approx. 85hp with 146 lb/ft of torque and is backed by a 3-speed manual transmission with factory floor shift. A rare 'Columbia' 2-speed rear axle results in an approximate 28% overdrive reduction of RPMs. Suspension features include manual steering, solid front axle with transverse leaf spring and semi-floating rear axle with transverse 'Liquor' leaf springs. Hydraulic drums provide braking (first year) and 15” Mercury steel wheels w/dog-dish hubcaps and beauty rings mount Coker American Classic radials. This '39 Ford Standard coupe has been tweaked in just the right ways - it is a fun ride. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”
