1978 Excalibur Phaeton III

Description

STK 3152 1978 Excalibur Phaeton III

The Excalibur was manufactured by the Excalibur Automobile Corp. from 1972-1990. It was conceived in the image of the Mercedes SSK that was designed by Ferdinand Porsche in the 1920s and built on a custom Excalibur chassis. Multiple generations of Excaliburs were built over this twenty-year run and the Series III models utilized powerful GM big-blocks and mechanical components. This 1978 Excalibur Phaeton III is an original example in very good condition. (A factory Phaeton parts/build manual is included.) The fiberglass body w/steel hood was factory finished in SeaFoam Green and is very nice. Accents include a huge 'Mercedes SSK' chrome grill, dual spare wheels, flex-tube side exhaust headers and a rear luggage rack. A manual convertible hardtop/softop w/side curtains is in good condition. The black leather interior is also in good condition and convenience features include cold A/C, full instrumentation, AM/FM/Cassette stereo and tilt-wheel. Under the hood is a GM crate motor – a 454ci big-block V8. Torque is rated at 350lb/ft @2400rpm w/7.9:1 compression ratio and a 4V Rochester Quadra-Jet 750cfm carburetor. Flex-tube headers exit to an under-car exhaust system. The powerplant is backed by a GM TH-400 3-speed automatic and posi-traction differential w/2.73:1 gearing. The chassis features power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes and coil spring front suspension w/sway bar. Rear independent suspension is a transverse leaf spring format w/half-shafts and trailing arms (C3 Corvette design). Silver powder coated 15” alloy 'wire wheels' mount 2.35x75/R15 Milestar whitewall radials. This is classic motorcar that is fitted with a modern, dependable drivetrain. It belongs in your garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
