1954 Ford Crestline Skyliner

Description

Acrylic "Glass" Roof
239 ci Y-Block OHV V8

STK 3526 1954 Ford Skyliner

Ford introduced their post-war sedans in 1949. They were dubbed the 'shoebox' Fords and were the most modern looking vehicle produced in the era. By 1954, they had evolved into a beautifully styled sedan. The Crestline series was the top-of-the-mark model with the Skyliner and Victoria being the premium offerings. The 'acrylic-glass-roof' Skyliner was marketed as “The Most Distinctive Car under the Sun' and is very rare in today's marketplace as only 13,300 were produced in '54. This mostly original Skyliner is a stunning example of the model. It has benefited from a careful exterior respray of two-tone original Raven Black/White (codes A-M) and has outstanding chrome and stainless. Its classic lines are nicely accented by 15” steel wheels w/full wheel discs, new wide-white BFGoodrich bias tires, and rear fender skirts. All logos, mirrors, and bumper guards are 'Crestline' correct. The interior has been refreshed with the original 'hounds tooth' upholstery pattern. A turned-metal dash, headliner and carpeting are all outstanding. The original radio is still in the dash, but needs TLC.

The Skyliner is powered by Ford's then newly introduced 239ci Y-block OHV V8 (U-code) rated at 139hp with 193lb/ft. Said to be the factory motor, everything under the hood looks original. It is equipped with a Holley 2-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust - sounds great. The Y-block is backed by a Ford-o-Matic 3-speed automatic with column shift. The electrical system is the generator-based 6-volt setup w/HD battery and 4-wheel drum brakes provide stopping power. The chassis is very clean with a new fuel tank, new exhaust and coil-over suspension components. This rare, classic Ford Skyliner is ready for your next summer cruise-in. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
