STK 3362 1959 Ford Galaxie 500

The styling of the 1959 Ford is a perfect example of the 'new look' of American Iron in the late 50's - longer, lower, wider models sporting rear fins. It was, and still is, a beautiful car. This Fairlane 500 two-door hardtop is an original, unrestored survivor that was part of the Dennis Carpenter collection. The exterior bodywork of this Fairlane 500 is amazingly straight and true. Its factory Raven Black enamel finish should be considered in fair condition at best, with 'age' damage on the hood/roof/trunk surfaces. The 'Thunderbird' roofline and chrome rear fender skirts provide perfect accents. Factory steel wheels w/full hubcaps mount 15” Hankook white-wall radials. It appears that all of the chrome/stainless components are there, but some are quite pitted and will need work. The original interior is in fair condition. Seats are upholstered in Torch Red vinyl with Raven Black fabric inserts and have been subject to normal wear. However, dash pad, headliner and door panels are all acceptable and the factory AM radio is still in the dash (needs TLC). Based on the data plate, this Fairlane 500 was optioned with the 'Thunderbird' 352ci (H-code) engine (a first generation 'FE' motor) equipped with a 4-barrel Holley carburetor. This is believed to be the original engine, but we have no documentation. The owner states that the engine has new bearings, water pump and belts/hoses. It runs nice, but looks a little rough. Behind the FE, a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission (4-code) that delivers torque to an open rear differential with 2.69:1 factory gearing (6-code). The chassis is equipped with manual steering, manual drum brakes and new dual exhaust. This Fairlane 500 needs a new Blue Oval owner who will pamper it – one who will appreciate the beautiful style of this full-size, original classic. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
